Reflexology support for fertility
Around 1 in 7 couples now have trouble conceiving. There are many potential causes of fertility problems and they can affect both men and women. Common causes in women include lack of regular ovulation, blockage of the fallopian tubes and endometriosis. In men, the most common cause is poor quality of semen. However, for 25% of couples no reason for their difficulty conceiving can be identified.
Getting help to conceive can be very stressful and costly. Complementary therapies can provide help and support for a lot less money. On a physical level they can support you with any medical conditions you may have. They are also excellent at reducing stress and helping you cope with the complex mental and emotional aspects which may be affecting your fertility. There are also many lifestyle changes you can make to maximise your fertility and I can work through these with you.
I have completed a specialist qualification in reproductive reflexology (Reproflexology) with Barbara Scott of Seren Natural Fertility and am a full member of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists. This qualification allows me to safely and effectively support couples who:
- are looking to enhance their general health before trying for a baby
- are experiencing problems conceiving and want to try natural alternatives before considering assisted methods of conception (such as IVF)
- have tried assisted conception but not been successful and are now looking for natural ways to try to improve their fertility.
- are currently undergoing assisted conception (IVF / ICSI)
Prior to your first appointment I will send you a Pre-conceptual Questionnaire for you and your partner to complete. If you have had any tests or scans then I will need copies of the results / reports. You and your partner will come for a 1.5 hour consultation (£40) where we will talk through the questionnaire and aspects of your lives that may be impacting on your fertility (lifestyle, stress levels, work, diet, exercise). You will also both have a short reflexology assessment.
I will then recommend a treatment plan specific to your circumstances. This will involve you having a 50 minute treatment (standard foot reflexology prices apply) once a week for at least four weeks. During this time I will get you to chart your menstrual cycle using a free online tool so we can assess our progress. If your partner has known problems which may be affecting your ability to conceive then regular reflexology would be beneficial for him as well.
While there are no guarantees, by working together we can optimise your health and well-being and make sure you have the best chance of achieving a happy, healthy pregnancy.
